Salmonella Outbreak

According to the State Journal Register in Springfield, IL, recent salmonella outbreaksĀ  – 116 in total – have occurred in 20 states and the District of Columbia. While no one has died, ten incidents of the illness were located in the state of Illinois. Of those ten cases, three people did have to be hospitalized. Only 12 people in the nation, however, had to be hospitalized. The outbreaks have all been linked to a raw yellowfin tuna product produced by Moon Marine USA Corp. of Cupertino, California, and they have voluntarily recalled the product, which is not directly available to consumers but rather provided to grocery stores and restaurants to be used in sushi and other seafood dishes.
